What kind of church appeals more to you? One where, during worship, you sit down but stand if the Lord leads you? Or one where there are people dancing with flags and are rolling on the floor crying and laughing because of the presence of God? There is this war between churches today because of the way things are run and what doctrines are set. There is disunity caused by disagreement with doctrines. Now I think there are important doctrines that should be established according to what the Word says, but there are too many that are causing a chasm between believers. When did one church become better than another because of the way it's being run? If one church wants to be more conservative and another wants to be radical, let them be. The congregation obviously would not be attending if they didn't agree with the way things are being taught and the way the service is being structured(or not structured.) How are we as believers supposed to attract non-believers if we are showing them that we can't even agree to disagree sometimes? We are wanting to display unity among believers and non-believers and we are in disunity ourselves.
/// 1 CORINTHIANS 1:10///
"I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought."
We, the church, are focused on our own meeting place, when we have forgotten the most vital point about ourselves. We are the church. It is not a building where we meet.
/// 1 CORINTHIANS 12:25-26///
"So that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it."
We need to stop focusing on the way things are run in a service, and start focusing on the way our hearts are being led by our Father. Now I am speaking to myself when I say all this too. I personally know how it's so easy to get caught up in ourselves and talk about how great our own church is, and while that's all fine and dandy, we need not to talk down on other churches. We need to come together and remember that we're all living for the same purpose. To bring God the glory in every move we make and to reach out to the lonely, unloved, and unwanted.
In a world where individualism is so highly praised, we as believers need to remember the core of our beings that stitches us all together. To spread the greatest love story of all time. Better than Twilight and better than Fifty Shades of Grey. The gospel of God's love, grace and pure unselfish love. Being your own person is great because God did make you unique and for your own special purpose, but when it comes down to it, we are all jacked up people who need our Savior and the best way to cling closer is to come together in unity and do so. So put aside all your service and doctrinal preferences. God wants your heart.
